Digney Grant Adds to Growing Team - Building on Their Successes
Newry based Insurance broker Digney Grant, has appointed Rory Rafferty as their commercial development manager.
Rory is a native of Enniskillen and boasts extensive experience in the fields of Business Placement, Commercial Underwriting, Relationship Management, Operations and Risk Management and is sure to be a fantastic addition.
Rory Rafferty, Commercial Development Manager
Rory has previously worked for Digney Grant’s parent company, GRP, overseeing the placement of business for GRP’s NI arm of the business. Prior to that, a career in Underwriting for the NI and ROI markets for a large composite and then a London MGA, was the path that led him to his current role.
He commented: “I am delighted to have joined such a growing and ambitious company like Digney Grant. Having been involved with the placement strategy of business for Digney Grant for the last two-and-a-half years, with our parent group GRP, the opportunity to work alongside Anthony, Paul, Sean and the team was one I was not going to let pass”.
LOCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES
“With the ever-changing economic landscape due to Covid-19 and Brexit, I really feel that now more than ever, having a broker to ensure the necessary cover is in place for businesses and individuals, is paramount,” added Mr Rafferty.
“With my base out west in Fermanagh, we hope to grow our book of clients in that general area”.
GROWING THE BUSINESS
Mr Rafferty continues: “My objectives going forward are to ensure the best service possible for our clients at Digney Grant, and help grow the business both organically and with a well-planned acquisition strategy.
“Personally, I want to build on my market and technical knowledge and develop more relationships within the NI, ROI and UK Insurance network.
“With our ability to write business in all three jurisdictions, I know we are the best placed to take care of local businesses. Our model at Digney Grant offers clients the ‘best of both worlds’ scenario, the buying power of a national and the local ‘hands-on’ service expected of the provincial broker.”
One of Digney Grant’s main areas of strength at present is cross-border construction insurance. Namely combined liability, contractors' all risks, professional indemnity and fleet insurance.
With Brexit upon us, the way business is placed will change dramatically, regardless of the outcome. Hence it is important to use a broker that is approved by the Central Bank of Ireland, and that has the expertise and market access to fulfil the specific needs of cross-border businesses.
SEAN GRANT TALKS CONSTRUCTION AND BREXIT - THE POSITIVES
“We are incredibly fortunate, that as part of the GRP Group, arrangements for dealing with clients with EU-based risks are already in place,” explains Mr Grant.
“Because of this, we can look forward with confidence in providing a seamless service whatever the outcome of the negotiations.
Sean Grant, Director
“The Digney Grant team are on hand to discuss any fears anyone may have about their insurance arrangements for trading into the EU from 2021 and we wish to reassure clients with an EU exposure that we are prepared and in a position to continue looking after their EU based risks.”
RECRUITMENT AND ACQUISITIONS
To continue building on their successes, Digney Grant are looking to strengthen the commercial team, and are seeking enthusiastic account executives and account handlers, who wish to take their careers to the next step, and bring a wide range of products and services to their clients.
Anthony Boden, Managing Director
They are also keen to assist other brokers, who are looking for a succession plan with their business, and/or an exit strategy. COVID19 and Brexit will have brought this to the forefront of many business owners. The Digney Grant door is very much open to conversations.
